"Libertine is a very emotional brand." Designer Johnson Hartig told a television crew backstage before the Fall 2016 collection was unveiled at The Gallery at Clarkson Square on Monday night. And it was emotional, not just for the designer, but for those witnessing it, as the explosion of color, texture, ideas, and imagery was so much more impactful than your average fashion show. It felt like getting an intensely private insight right into the mind of one of the industry's most exciting artists. Can you imagine climbing into Salvador Dali's brain and seeing the seed of melting clocks and warped landscapes growing? THAT was what the Libertine Fall 2016 pieces felt like. They were pieces, not just of a collection, but of the designer himself.
