With a knockout collection that featured a finale of enormous sculptural stars and hearts that brought Tokyo Fashion week to a close, and brought down the house.
Innovative and supremely well executed the Mikio Sakabe Spring 2018 collection epitomized everything that is fantastic about Japanese design, and everything that has made Tokyo a 'city to watch' in the eyes of the global fashion media. The looks were based on suiting, but incorporated a wide range of exaggerated shapes, and unusual silhouettes as well as bold color and a smattering of small, traditionally inspired, prints. The overall effect was simply stunning.
The production of the show, which included a raised runway and dramatic lighting, was also first rate and rivaled those in New York, Milan, London, and Paris; which made for an absolutely perfect end to a great season in Tokyo.
