Now in its third season showing at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Tokyo, Tokyo New Age, a collective of young designers produced by Mikio Sakabe (of his name sake label Mikio Sakabe) and Yoshikazu Yamagata (of writtenafterwards), functioned as a thrilling peek into the future of Japanese fashion. This season the show featured (in order they showed below) sleek menswear pieces that beautifully blended 'street' influences and traditional Japanese tailoring of Soshi Otsuki by Soshi Otsuki, on to the avant-garde meets modern womenswear pieces by AKIKOAOKI by Akiko Aoki on to the neo-grunge meets whimsical street collection, for both men and women, by KEISUKEYOSHIDA by Keisuke Yoshida, on to the heavily craft inspired RYOTAMURAKAMI by Ryota Murakami and Chiaki Murakami, and finally concluded with the knock out dead sexy with a major dose of art-chic kotohayokozawa by Kotoha Yokozawa.
