The Asia Fashion Meets Tokyo Indonesia show during Amazon Fashion Week Tokyo, featured two rising star labels, Rani Hatta and Bateeq. The point of view of the labels, although very different from one another, showcased the best of the Indonesian industry, which has slowly getting major buzz from in-the-know global fashion watchers. More modesty focused but with a fun sporty edge, the Rani Hatta line was bold and graphic with clean, singular accents that felt modern and fresh. The Bateeq line, played on the long historical tradition of handmade batik fabrics for which Indonesia has been known for, for centuries. Beautiful (although NOT hand painted) prints highlighted this second collection in a myriad of modern flowing silhouettes for men and women accented with small wooden and glass beads.

Overall the show was a fascinating look inside the emerging market of Indonesia, and gave a good insight into how important the craft and design talent in the country is becoming on the global stage.
