New York: Katty Xiomara Spring 2017

Drawing inspiration from "the great maritime power that Portugal was in the 15th century" Portuguese born designer Katty Xiomara created an adorable collection of Spring 2017 pieces that felt perfect for the young, retro-loving fashion girl who favors creating her own vintage inspired look over blindly following 'must haves' in the magazines. The seafaring theme was deftly handled with subtle touches like netting over silk dresses and abstract oceanic prints while the super-cute details such as delicate appliques and fluffy ruffles kept everything light-hearted. The overall effect was pure joyfulness that was great to see on the runway, and at the same time it felt very wearable. So much so, as the looks came down the runway it was easy to imagine the buyers from Anthropologie banging on Xiomara's door wanting to put the pieces in stores across the country come Spring.
