New York: Skingraft Fall 2014

Climate change and the "inevitable return to distopian survivalist society" may not be "pretty" topics, but they made for a spellbinding inspiration for Jonny Cota's Fall 2014 Skingraft collection.

According to the official show notes "the collection pulls from Siberian, Mongolian, and Arctic tribal cultures who have adapted, thrived and built communities in harsh climates and severe conditions for centuries. This Arctic inspiration is filtered through Skingraft’s signature nomadic streetwear lens and explores new fabrications including hand-quilted leather and mohair, shaved ponyhair, ribbed nylon-fused fleece and intricate embroideries detailed with leather and metal jewels."

Sound intriguing? It was, very. And it was also beautifully executed with exquisite, delicately detailed leather work that needed to be seen up close to truly be appreciated. (check out the detail shot below.)
