New York: Backstage at Pamella Roland Spring 2014

The Cannes Film festival circa 1960 when glamour was at an all time high, was the inspiration behind the Pamella Roland Spring 2014 show. To create a hair and beauty look that fully captured the old-Hollywood on the Riviera vibe, the designer tapped the best of the best, Laura Mercier cosmetics and Ted Gibson hair.

Here's what the teams did, starting with that gorgeous face.

Matin Maulawizada, Global Artistry Director of Laura Mercier began by applying Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer Creme Compact Broad Spectrum SPF 20 Sunscreen to create a flawless canvas for makeup application. Then he covered minor skin imperfections using Laura Mercier Secret CamouflageNext he applied Laura Mercier Creme Cheek Colour in Sunrise and Laura Mercier Creme Cheek Colour in Rosebud, onto the cheeks to add a natural rosy flush to the skin. For eyes, Maulawizada began by applying Laura Mercier Creme Cheek color in Sunrise all over the lid. Then, beginning at the lash line, he applied Laura Mercier Matte Eye Color in Truffle and faded the color outward. Using the same shade he rimmed the eyes to create a slightly smudged "halo effect."

"The nonchalant attitude of the French stars is the inspiration for this look" Maulawizada explained backstage."They were very different from the American or British stars, they kept it sexy but a bit smudgy like they just rolled out of bed and put lipstick on."

Finally for the lips Maulawizada stained the lips using Laura Mercier Rouge Nouveau Weightless Lip Color in Mod. He then added Laura Mercier Creme Smooth Lip Color in Brigitte before blotting the lips down to a more muted tone.

Now on to the hair.

To compliment the 60's starlet glam of the beauty, Hair Guru Ted Gibson opted for a classic Brigitte Bardot pony with ample volume for an added modern twist. To get the look, the stylist started with Ted Gibson Hairsheet Styling all over the hair, and then blew dry to get tons of texture.

Then, after the hair was dried, Gibson smoothed hair away from the face and parted it in a deep side part. From there, Gibson back-combed the hair at the top with a rattail comb to give it tons of height and pulled it into an asymmetrical ponytail. Hair was then tied off with a leather hair wrap and a healthy coat of Ted Gibson Beautiful Hold Hairspray was sprayed all over to keep hair in place without getting stiff or sticky.
