The official run of show notes describe the influence and inspiration of the Chapter Spring 2016 collection as:

"a reflection of our past and a look to the future. Inspired by visual refraction and mirroring, the design story is one that signifies the unrelenting drive and evolution of the brand’s ethos as we move into a space that is just beyond the familiar."

But for me, looking at the pieces I saw a ton of Japanese influence as well. Many of the looks  reminded me of the Japanese label dressedundressed with the gender fluid styling, the boxy cuts, and the form meets comfort vibe of the collection. Of course, this is a hazard of shooting the collections in Tokyo, as I've done for the past 4 years, in that the far reaching influence of Japanese design aesthetics become noticeable everywhere, even when they may not have actually been in the back of the designer's mind during creation.

Nevertheless, that is how Chapter read to me. It was cool, laid back, unfussy, and totally reminded me of Tokyo.
