Local love: March trunk, Cary Lane party highlight week's events

Here at SW we adore boutiques that carry the best high-profile and emerging designers from New York, London, Paris, Tokyo and around the world. But we also recognize that the SF Bay Area is home to many great designers as well, so this week we are honing in on the events that feature some of the best in local fashion starting with:

Thursday November 17th

Matt Dick + March Trunk Show

A veritable force in the local creative scene, designer Matt Dick has had a hand in developing some of the area's most stand out  products and places including past work with Yagi Design, Bardessono, Blue Bottle, International Orange, and Bar Agricole. This month he brings his talents to March SF, for an exclusive collaborative line inspired by "by the way people go to work around the world (a rice farmer in the Korean countryside, a shepherd in the Middle East, hewn in natural fabrics  (hemp, silk, cotton, wool) with deconstructed details, careful draping and different finishing techniques including natural over-dye processes, like indigo." Puruse the collection during the official trunk show 2-7PM, or shop the pieces on your own schedule all month long. 3075 Sacramento Street;  MARCHSF for more details.

Also on Thursday:

Bay Area based handbag company 49 SQUARE MILES,  makers of the super lust-worthy Bucket Mouth, Walflower and  Hopkins hobo bags, will celebrate the grand opening of their new South San Francisco retail store with a blow out party and shop-for-a-cause event** benefiting Project 2020. 160 S. Linden Ave. 4-8PM.

**20% of all  proceeds from purchases at the store go  Project 2020, aa charity which teaches water polo and swimming in low-income communities  where families would normally have little or no access to aquatic sports. Project 2020 strives to train an athlete from their communities to compete in the 2020 NCAA Water Polo Championships, and contend for a spot on the US Olympic Water Polo Team.  On hand at the 49 Square Miles in store event will be founder of Project 2020 Skylar Sorosin and three time Olympic athlete Brenda Villa.

Friday, November 18th
