Every Summer Miami Florida is home to what has to be one of these most nerve racking runways for models and designers alike, Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Swim. An event entirely devoted to surf and pool side style, itsy bitsy bikinis used to be de riguer, but for Summer 2012 plenty of designers showed looks that flattered every figure. From boyish to bombastic there were truly suits for everyone.
Whether it's lengthening the leg with a high, but not too high thigh, or camouflaging the tummy with a high-waist bikini bottom, this season designers appear to be considering real women of every age when creating their looks. Some of our favorite figure-flattering looks came from:
Norma Kamali in the form of retro-tastic pin-up inspired styles that were both playful and sexy. Cut higher on the thigh but still below the hip bone, these suits lengthen legs and offered extra under-wire support for an irresistible silhouette.
Mara Hoffman, who's high waisted illusion bikinis offered a little more over-the tummy coverage that was both modern and curve conducive.
Jogo Beach, where sexy met sporty in mash-up of actually wave friendly looks. The red halter tops looks in particular work wonders to widen shoulders and slim hips.
And for those beach babes that want to flaunt all they've got the classic string-bikini was still showing up on many of the Miami runways, but we preferred the street-inspired faux-denim bikini with its hyper sexy triangle top and booty short bottoms from Diesel.
