Weekend music round-up

The Stone Foxes Image: Courtesy of Audio MuffinThere’s plenty of music for everyone this weekend with techno, punk, and rockabilly all happening around the Bay.

Friday: Starting in San Francisco at The Independent it’s local band Or, The Whale with The Stone Foxes and The Maldives. At Mighty Popscene and the Asian American Film Festival collaborate on Directions in Sound featuring DJ Shortkut, Oakland Natives HOT TUB, plus DJ’s Kero One, Green Tea, Navdeep, and Nako – doors open at 9. At Bottom of The Hill it’s You Say Party! We Say Die! with Fake Your Own Death and Nylon Heart Attack - show starts at 10. Over at the Hemlock Tavern it’s an international affair with France’s Gunslingers, Australia’s Beaches, plus Liquorball and Nothing People.

In Oakland at The Uptown you can swing the night away with Big Sandy, The Hi-Rhythm Hustlers, and Lil Anne and the Tune Wranglers. Also in Oakland at the Stork Club it’s time again for Death Rock Dive Bar with Blood Penny and Seattle’s The Mother’s Anger .

Saturday: Down in Santa Clara at The Avalon  Live 105 is throwing a “Buck Oh Five” show featuring Violent Soho, Dizzy Balloon, and Scene of Action – the cover is a measly $1.05 and the doors open at 8. Live 105 is also getting busy in San Francisco at the Red Devil Lounge with its show featuring Pop Rocks. Staying in SF you can get your samba on at The Independent with SambaDa for their album release show. At Bottom of The Hill you can catch Audrye Sessions, Dave Smallen, and Poor Bailey – it’s an all ages show at the show starts at 10. For electronic fans Vessel is getting a rare visit from Dutch DJ/Producer The Scumfrog.

In Oakland at The Uptown it’s time to mosh with the Angry Samoans supported by the Bum City Saints and Stigma 13.
