It’s a 3 day weekend so here’s our round-up of our favorite events that are going on around the Bay.
Friday: In San Francisco, we start at the Independent where Leftover Salmon kick off the first of two nights with their sound of bluegrass, Cajun, funk, Southern rock, boogie, Caribbean, Latin, and jazz influences. Over at 1015 can catch one of the world’s top DJ’s Paul Van Dyke – get there early as it’s guaranteed to be a full house. There’s more DJ’s to be had at the Rickshaw Stop for Blow Up with NY’s Stretch Armstrong – admission is 18+ and doors are at 10. At Mighty Om Records presents a Mushroom jazz night headed my label artist and DJ Mark Farina.
Saturday: In Oakland, at the Fox Theater are STS9 as they tour in support of their latest album Ad Explorata. Also in Oakland at the Stork Club are L.A. Riots, The Neighborhood Bullys, The Black Tongued Bells, and The Cheatin’ Kind. In San Francisco at Bottom of the Hill they celebrate the 25 year anniversary of Polkacide alongside Kitten on the Keys. At the Hotel Utah it’s the return of Super Adventure Club this week supported by Please Do Not Fight and Khi Darag – show starts at 9.30.
Sunday: If you’re looking for a way to celebrate singles awareness day or just want to treat your special someone to a fun night out then look no further than the Independent as (((folkYEAH!))) present L.A. natives and SW faves The Entrance Band who’ll be ably supported by Sic Alps, Lights, and DJ Britt Govea – show starts at 8.
Monday: If you’ve ever seen the movie Nerdcore Rising then you’ll know all about MC Frontalot. Now’s your chance to get your dose of nerdcode as Frontalot plays Café Du Nord - show starts at 8pm and support will be from Brandon Patton and Ken Flagg.
