stock photoDear Haikusue:
I lost my job over a year ago when the major financial firm I worked for took a serious blow. Since than I have done a little freelance consulting but am mostly living off my savings. It's not ideal, but it's doable as long as I stick to a strict budget. My problem is that my friends ( none of whom work in hard-hit business areas) don't seem to understand that I simply can not afford to do the things we used to do. To them a cheap night, is a $75 person dinner and drinks after- my food budget for a week. I've tried to talk to them about it but they don't listen. I don't want to sit at home every night, but I don't want to go broke trying to keep up either, help!
Signed,
Bankrupt in Bernal
Dear Bankrupt:
Don't mince your words now,
If they refuse to listen
stay home, make new friends
