Fumble Italiano

This season the biggest trend in runway production is the live stream. During New York Fashion Week La Coste, Marc Jacobs, and Rodarte all did it, and a week later in London Burberry upped the ante with a 3-D stream that dazzled critics and web audiences alike.

It was no surprise that when fashion-powerhouse and uber-trend-setter Miuccia Prada announced she  would be joining team live stream as her Fall 2010 Women's RTW collection walked the runway in Milan the excitement hit a high, with even industry insiders like design-it-boy Prabal Gurung gushing:

"SO XCTD Live streaming of PRADA'S show at 1pm LOVE Muccia.2 thumbs up for Technology n new ideas."

Unfortunately for the iconic Italian brand all of the "XCTMNT" for the show was systematically undone as the show got underway just after 10AM PST and the Prada  website began to freeze, skip, and ultimately crash.

By 10:30 AM PST, it became clear that what started out as a PR bid to win the admiration of a larger market was backfiring as Twitter lit up with complaints about the non-performing feed.

Here are just a few of the thousands of tweets sent as the Prada Show failed to stream:

annibarros http://www.prada.com/ vendo o desfile da pradaagora.....o video ta FAIL , parece q todo mundo ta bebado pq a imagem aparece meio acelerada

jennamorrison The Prada live stream is an epic fail. Keeps stopping/skipping.

AJMukamal dear prada livestream-You fucking suck-please take notes from Proenza next season (on tech & clothes)

alanita #Prada I'm getting annoyed

GloMichelle @barbroandersen so pissed right now! i couldnt see the prada livestream. dunno if it was my computer of the stream itself!! GRRR

p_scudeller Not the best day for the technologic fashion shows.. D&G meio failPrada lerdo, #querdizer

alexinocouture #Prada total #fail #epicfail #hiperfail a su stream!!

@mtjstyle: WTF is going on with Prada's live stream?#fail

So what about the clothes, that Andrew from Bravo's Kell OnEarth (AJMukamal above )  so eloquently described as "fucking suck"? Real reviews from the professional publications that were in attendance will most likely  be raves, but initial reports are calling the collection an 'expected' retro-chic look with a dark twist, nipped in waists, sexy secretary beehives, and befuddling thick bobby socks with pointy toed pumps.

Stay tuned for more from the Prada show as news comes in.

major screw up on Prada's part - I was so excited to see this and so bummed it flopped. So many designers in NY got it mostly right but Prada shouldn't fail like this

I think the clothes matter more some technology snafu. I'll hold judgement until I see some pics - hopefully you'll have these just like the other great shows.
